Inspired by the various faces of wrinkles, this project tried to capture the beauty and mysterious nature of folds, waves, drapes, layers and all kinds of wrinkles in our surroundings.
As one of the most fluid and freeform substances in nature, water is always shaped by its’ surroundings.
When breeze passing by; drops falling on top; colours of sunset glinting on the surface, water captured the momentary beauties and turned them into endless folds.
Surprisingly, all of the descriptions also fit properly on textile, since they have an intriguing connection to the freeform quality. This lively character makes textile become a very unique and mysterious material.
Movement is the soul of wrinkles that brings fabric back to life, enabling them to dance in the wind and swim in the air. To understand the structure and movement better, this project started with analysis the paper models: magnify the structures of wrinkles and disassemble the step of the process when they transform from A to B shape.
